- Climate adaptation centralised. Lobby Central Govt to make national plan for all-of-Govt response to climate change with NZ wide action plan
- Address the climate plan gap. Deliver a comprehensive citywide Dunedin Climate Action Plan addressing both mitigation and adaptation
- Introduce red carpet approach for at-risk buildings to ensure adaptations, such as earthquake strengthening have pro-active support
My Environment Policies
- Plan smart. Ensure Council’s Environment Strategy is refreshed. Create implementation plan with measurable milestones and fast action.
- Balance wildlife and tourism. Re-do Destination Management Plan with environment as number one priority. Ensure regenerative tourism action
- Make waste minimisation easy. eg Support inner city recycling with easily accessible recycle hubs
My housing and planning policies
- Protect treasured heritage .Ensure all council planning respects & protects our heritage architecture as a key strength of Dunedin’s assets.
- Raise housing standards. Address housing quality standards by ensuring Healthy Homes laws are monitored & enforced, by central or local govt
- Zero Functional Homelessness. eg Work with partners to bring a Housing First model to Dunedin to address homelessness.
My jobs and economy policies
- Support business. Build better relationships and partnerships. Reinstate Red Carpet project. Prioritise local procurement
- Make Dunedin famous. Raise our profile to attract people and investment to city, creating growth, jobs and our fair share of Govt funding
- Encourage job creation. Build a stronger economy through business support, investing in growing economy and attracting employers
Your local democracy policies
- Better engagement. Work with communities on better consultation models, ensure all voices are heard to enhance Council decision making
- Rebuild trust. Lead improvement in Councillor behaviour. Change council culture to focus on positive service and delivery experiences.
- Establish monthly ‘Councillor Clinics’ so Councillors are more actively involved with local communities and available for drop in chats
My rates and revenue policies
- Lobby Central Govt – stop giving local Govt unfunded mandates or changes, which impacts on service delivery and leaves us with budget holes
- Better budgets. Rebuild budgets from bottom up. Look for savings to keep rates down and pay off debt. Increase transparency for everyone
- Investigate user-pays for out-of-town visitors using council assets so they may contribute directly to management and infrastructure costs.
My recreation and culture policies
- Review events budget to make our locally created events better supported to help our events thrive as our point of difference.
- Act on the sports facility review to ensure we offer excellent modern facilities for locals and to attract sporting events.
- Refresh all the culture, recreation & environment strategies to get cohesive plans & action to create NZ’s best city to live in.
My transport policies
- Re-do the 2013 Transport Strategy to bring it to the 2025 world! We need the Masterplan to create better outcomes and get our city flowing
- Get the buses back from ORC. We need a better bus system – DCC is the logical manager as we understand the local’s needs more
- Prioritise fixing the gaps in the cycle system so we can get people safely cycling and decrease pressure on roads and parks
My utilities and services policies
- Keep three waters delivery under council control. Invest strategically in water assets for long-term intergenerational equity.
- Leverage waste levy more strategically to invest in long term waste minimisation infrastructure. ie build waste recycling plant.
- Examine bringing street cleaning and reserves management in-house to provide more control and manage costs and resident satisfaction better

Why are you running for election?
- I’m running for Mayor of Dunedin because it’s time for bold, people-first leadership. Dunedin has incredible potential—our environment, education, and business sectors are real strengths. But right now, we’re falling short. Residents are frustrated by the lack of clear vision, direction and action. It’s time for a new, common-sense approach that focuses on priorities, delivers real results, and ensures Dunedin becomes the best place to live in New Zealand. Its time for change in ambition
30. Why will you make a good elected representative?
- I’d make a good Mayor of Dunedin because I’m passionate about our city and committed to its future. With six years experience on Council, I understand how local government works and how to get things done. I listen, collaborate, and act with integrity. I believe in practical solutions, strong leadership, and putting people first. I want Dunedin to thrive—economically, socially, and environmentally—and I have the vision and dedication to lead us forward together.

- Fight for our southern hospital. Its vital we keep strong pressure on Govt to build as promised!

- Raise Dunedin’s profile – become a magnet for talent, investment and innovation to make us prosper
